Living with DCIS

Being told you have DCIS can be stressful. Most women feel fear, anxiety and worry. Below are things that other women have found useful in living with their DCIS.

  • Take your time to think things through. Don’t feel like you need to rush. Everyone accepts and processes information at a different rate. There are a lot of different ways to treat your DCIS, and you should pick the one that you believe is right for you.
  • Talk to your doctor. Before you decide, talk to your doctor about what you learned in this tool and ask any questions you may have.
  • You may want to talk to others. Reach out to your family and friends to talk about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
  • You may want to talk to other women who have DCIS. Ask your doctor about local support groups or join online support groups.
  • Take care of yourself. Do healthy things to reduce your stress. Do what makes you feel good about life.
